Rate Your Politician

The private sector rates many services like food delivery, hotels and customer service calls. However, we do not rate our elected officials. With Poliforum's reviewing system, citizens participate in democracy by voicing their thoughts and feelings through constructive feedback that is a valuable indicator for these officials. These reviews serve as a feedback loop both for citizens and for the government.

Please submit your review based on your personal experience and perspective.

  1. Provide a rating based on their general performance.

  2. In 2-3 sentence, describe your general impression of their capabilities in this role.

  3. Add your thoughts, constructive feedback or a note on their work.

  4. Upload an image or video that supports your review.

Review the following prompts based on these criteria:

  • Trustworthiness

  • Family Values

  • Accessibility to constituents

  • Representation of local issues

  • Effectiveness in parliament

Harder, Peter, P.C.

SKU Senator

Senator Peter Harder, appointed to the Senate in April 2016 as the first Independent Senator under a new non-partisan selection process, brought nearly 30 years of federal public service experience to the Upper Chamber. Born in Winnipeg and raised in Vineland, Ontario, Harder pursued political science at the University of Waterloo and further studies at Queen’s University before joining the foreign service in 1977. His career includes serving as the founding executive director of the Immigration and Refugee Board and as deputy minister under five prime ministers in various departments, including immigration, public safety, and foreign affairs. As Government Representative in the Senate from 2016 to 2020, Harder played a key role in reforming the Senate towards greater independence, accountability, and transparency. He has also served as president of the Canada China Business Council. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, classical music, and working out.
